Are there any restrictions on the use of the CryptoPhone?
There are no restrictions on using the CryptoPhone for use in the EU, the US, Australia and Japan. To the best of our knowledge use in India, most of Asia, South America and Africa is also unrestricted. Use of the CryptoPhone in Russia and other CIS countries is possibly subject to state licensing with which we can not comply. If in doubt, we strongly recommend you check with a competent lawyer or with the authorities in your country. As a general rule, we ship only to the countries listed in the webshop. This list may be subject to change. We explicitly do not ship to some countries, either for reasons of EU and / or German export control law. We also do not ship to companies, organizations and individuals that are on the official EU list of terrorism supporters. The use of the CryptoPhone in countries or regions that enforce public or informal regulations on encrypted communications is at the sole risk of the user. In countries where this is applicable it is the user's obligation to obtain any required licenses for operating the CryptoPhone. We can not be held responsible for any problems that may follow.

I want to buy a CryptoPhone, but my business partners cannot afford one. What should I do?

SIM clock stopping is a battery saving feature that most modern phones and SIMs support. By stopping the clock and thereby the processor on the SIM, less power is consumed. The phone decides when to do this, based on he knowledge that it won't have to talk to the SIM card for a while. When an incoming or outgoing call is in progress, the SIM is of course "started" again. This has _absolutely nothing_ to do with billing, which is performed in the operators computers. On some Nokia phones, this feature can be checked by entering *#sim0clock# or *#746025625#. This would normally give the answer "Sim clock stop allowed". That is good, it means that the phone can request clock stopping, and it uses at little power as possible. It does _not_ mean that the clock _is_ stopped. You can not control this, it merely tells You that it is supported. And, it most certainly does NOT mean that You get free or cheaper calls. If You think so, You will have a most unpleasant surprise the next time the bill shows up. If, the phone should answer "Sim clock stop not allowed" or something similar, then You should order a new SIM from Your provider. This will give You increased standby time.

Komplettlösung für den eigenen Server: Apache mod-removeip
Wir empfehlen, das Apache-Modul "removeip" zu installieren. Mit dieser Lösung ist Ihr Server und die darauf laufenden Anwendungen komplett IP-speicherfrei. Sie müssen keine Einstellungen (z.B. Logformat) oder den Code Ihrer Software mehr verändern.
Das Apache-Modul "removeip" verhindert, dass Ihre Anwendungen (einschließlich Apache selbst) auf die IP-Adresse der Benutzer Zugriff haben. Als IP-Adresse des Benutzers wird stets 127.0.0.1 (localhost) ausgegeben.
Bitte beachten Sie, dass mod_removeip nicht nur die Protokollierung, sondern schon den Zugriff auf die IP-Adresse des Nutzers verhindert. Funktionen, die einen Zugriff auf die IP-Adresse des Benutzers voraussetzen, funktionieren damit nicht mehr (z.B. IP-basierte Zugangskontrolle, IP-basierte Spamfilter usw.). Für normale Webserver sollten keine Probleme auftreten. Wenn Probleme auftreten, kann das Modul jederzeit deaktiviert werden.
mod_removeip wird mit dem Betriebssystem Debian schon mitgeliefert. Ansonsten kann mod_removeip auch mitsamt einer Installationsanleitung heruntergeladen werden.
Installation unter Debian:aptitude install libapache2-mod-removeipa2enmod removeip/etc/init.d/apache2 force-reload
Der erste Befehl installiert das Modul. Der zweite Befehl aktiviert das Modul. Der dritte Befehl startet Apache neu.
Hinweis: "HostnameLookups" darf in der Konfigurationsdatei nicht aktiviert sein.
